Counseling Awareness

In 2002 the American Counseling Association designated April as Counseling Awareness Month.

The more than 53,000 members of the American Counseling Association (ACA) take considerable pride in both their work and their accomplishments and seek to make the importance of counseling and theĀ  role of counselors better known throughout the nation and the world.

Counseling in the US and the world is delivered via many human service settings and can be found in a variety of institutions.Ā  Statistics from the US Dept of Labor indicate that more than 665,000 counselors work in agencies, schools, organizations, private practice, personal and health care delivery systems and other settings.Ā  These professionals work with people across the life span, from childhood through senior years.

This year’s theme – Encouraging Counselors to #BurnBrightNotOut – is a nod to the awareness that those who have dedicated their lives in ensuring others take care of themselves, also must find time to do the same.

We are so proud of our counselors and would like to recognize three of our outstanding team members.

Royce Gilpin is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor ā€“ Supervisor and serves as a member of our Leadership Team as Quality Assurance Manager

Kyle May, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and therapist in our Behavioral Health department

Micah Music, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and works as a direct care supervisor and therapist for our Children in Community Care program.
